Hire West's parent company - South African based forming, shoring and scaffolding business Waco International - was founded in Johannesburg in 1952.
Today it is an international conglomerate, with operations on 3 continents, in 13 countries, at over 100 locations.
Waco International entered the Australian market in 1987. In 1992, it acquired GKN Kwikform, the scaffolding assets of GKN Australia, creating the company that today operates as Waco Kwikform Limited.
In 2005, Waco Kwikform entered the New Zealand market, acquiring the scaffolding and shoring business of Australasian Pacific Ltd, based in Auckland. Further expansion in New Zealand occurred in 2012, with the acquisition of United Scaffolding on the South Island.
Hire West, which was established in 1985 to service the low-rise housing
construction market in
Western Australia, was acquired by the Waco Kwikform Group in 2006.
Today, Waco Kwikform is recognised as a leading supplier of scaffolding in Australia and New Zealand. Our modular scaffold systems Kwikstage, Wedgelok and Milsystem are brand leaders that have helped shaped the modern scaffold industry.
We have twenty-one branch locations, as well as a number of regional distributors, which gives us a leading position in the timely supply and wide distribution of scaffolding products and services.
Our opinion is sought by, and we work closely with, organisations like Standards Australia and the various State regulatory authorities in reviewing and shaping the standards by which our industry operates, both today and into the future.
